The Albany and Denmark Western Australian music scenes are both thriving.
Many upcoming musicians from Denmark attend the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and are performing regularly in music festivals throughout the South West. WAAPA has a new opportunity for aspiring musicians as it is now delivering it's Diploma of Music course in Albany... only 50km away!
The WAAPA website states: "For a decade, WAAPA’s Contemporary Music department has been engaging with the remarkable talent of the Great Southern through its highly popular Radio Active program. This intensive week of music training brings together local high school music students with WAAPA staff and students for a special, one-off concert.
Now, in addition to this highly popular annual event, WAAPA’s one-year Diploma of Music is being offered to allow students to remain in Albany while progressing their musical studies. Expert WAAPA staff will travel to Albany each week to run ensembles and take classes."
Musicians in the Denmark region are active in creating, sharing and presenting their music, and encouraging others to share their music too.
